I guess you could say I’m something of a weight-loss veteran. After my first daughter was born, I lost 43kg (mostly ‘pregnancy weight’ plus a little more besides). But while pregnant with my second child, I got complacent, and a lot of the weight I’d previously lost promptly ‘found’ me again.
To be honest, I was disgusted at myself and my post-pregnancy body, and it seemed like weight loss was a lot more than twice as hard the second time around. The demands of juggling a toddler and a new baby, fitting in exercise, and cooking nutritious meals seemed quite overwhelming in those early months. Which is why I joined Somebody Weigh Better – to take some of the load off, so to speak!
I knew from the first time around how to eat to lose weight while breastfeeding, but Somebody made it easier for me to see exactly what I was consuming and what I was expending through exercise – the perfect ‘dietary balance sheet’ for my calories in/calories out that made my life as a busy mum just that bit easier. Somebody also adds a valuable ‘accountability component’ to your quest to lose weight and gain heath – you might be able to justify eating that packet of chocolate bikkies to yourself, but when you see it on paper – sheesh, not pretty! And knowing that ‘real live’ support is just an email away is fantastic. The great news is that with the help of Somebody, I have lost 31kg over 10 months (and, this time, plan to keep it this way!). And in the process, I have gained a passion for health, fitness and LIFE! I can’t recommend Somebody weigh Better highly enough!
